Apart from over the 12 “Ogun Standard” road projects which the Ogun State Government had contracted out for construction, the government had also taken step to open-up community roads across the 20 Local Government Areas of the State.      The step being taken in this regard is the setting up of four different gangs comprising at least five engineers of the State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure to handle community roads in the Egba, Yewa, Ijebu and Remo divisions of the State.      All these came from the Commissioner, Arc. Olamilekan Adegbite while addressing newsmen in Abeokuta, stating that the gangs were expected to open up, grade and construct culverts where necessary. Arc. Adegbite explained that the State Government decided to open up and grade the community roads to ensure access to all nooks and crannies of the State to aid smooth movement of human and goods, particularly agricultural products from the rural and remote areas to the cities and towns in the State. “Government is trying to provide basic motorable roads for the people, motorable roads to ensure easy movement of people and goods from a place to another. This, I believe will go a long way in realizing the urban renewal and rural development component of the five point agenda of the State Government” he noted.     He said each gang is expected to spend two weeks in a Local Government Area, promising that the Ministry would do its best to attend to all requests received from the State House of Assembly and Local Government councils. The Commissioner therefore appealed to members of benefitting communities to offer assistance and cooperate with the gang of engineers as they move to open the roads
