Oyo State - Lack of sufficient energy, bane of industrialization in Nigeria – Ajimobi

Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State has identified lack of sufficient energy as the bane of industrialization and industrial development in Nigeria.

He stated this while receiving the German Ambassador to Nigeria, Mrs. Dorothy Wenzel who paid him a courtesy call in his office in Ibadan on Friday.

The governor, who said that the time had come for the country to work on its energy sector, expressed his administration's readiness to enhance renewable energy to boost socio-economic activities in the state.We are interested in your renewable energy programme. Nigeria today has the problem of energy; our industrialization efforts have been hampered by lack of sufficient energy to drive the industrialization efforts

He also said that his government had embarked on mechanized farming to boost food production in the state, adding that it would also partner with the German government in the area of agriculture to assist peasant farmers.

"So we are keen in marking closely with the Republic of Germany in this area of renewable energy. We know that Germany is known for its technology. It is a knowledge-based, technically-driven society; anything produced in Germany is rugged, strong and efficient,'' the governor said.

He also enjoined the government of Germany to assist the state in the area of vocational training, skill acquisition, tourism, health, education and youth development.

"We are very keen at developing our tourism, infrastructure and industrial base. We will also be open to receiving your support in the areas of health, education and youth development programme.

Earlier in his remarks, the German Ambassador expressed the desire of Germany to support the state in the areas of energy, technical education and skill acquisition.
