John Obu focused on AYC title defence

Flying Eagles coach, John Obuh is determined to see his side successfully defend the title they won two years ago in South Africa, despite recent off- field crisis.

The former Sharks handler initially refused to travel with his team last week to Egypt for warm-up games against the Young Pharoahs ahead of the Africa Youth Championship after he protested the non-payment of his salaries by his employers, the Nigeria Football Federation.

But the gaffer is now focused on the task at hand which is the succesful defence of the AYC trophy in Algeria next month, after the NFF paid part of his 14 months salary arrears.

Beyond that,Obuh stated that he has put the money saga behind him as he will not want it to serve as a distraction, he was however quick to add that the NFF should learn to do the right thing at the right time.

"Well, they (NFF) have done something, but for me that is not even the issue for now"he begins.

"I have the duty to serve my country first, that is why I want to put that behind me and face the task ahead",Obuh told Brila FM as the Flying Eagles departed Cairo for Tunisia where they will go on with preparations for the AYC.

It will be recalled that Obuh only got the attention of the Glass House when he deserted his lads at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport,when the team was about leaving Abuja for the double header friendly with their Egyptian counterparts.
