Foreign coach can't help Eagles - Richard Owubokiri

Former national team player, Richard Owubokiri, has joined the long list of Nigerians who believed that the Super Eagles victory at the just concluded 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa has put an end to the dominance of foreign coaches in Nigerian football.

The former Benfica FC of Portugal striker who is based in Brazil told Complete Sports that he was excited with the performance of the team, saying coach Stephen Keshi has proved that Nigeria has quality coaches that can move the country's football forward.

"I spoke with you before the Nations Cup that I saw a lot of potentials in the team and I saw determination in Keshi that will make the trophy possible for Nigeria. And I am happy that the players did their best to win the trophy. It was a good outing for Nigeria and I want us to improve on that," says Owubokiri.

"Somehow, many keep thinking of foreign coaches and here Keshi has given them a sound reply."

The Rivers state born ex-international has also called on the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, to ensure that Keshi is given more support that will help him to plan properly for the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers which resume on March 23.
