Keshi Happy With Lush Green Calabar Stadium Pitch

Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi has in applauded the lush green turf of the U.J. Esuene stadium, Calabar, venue of Saturday's World Cup qualifier against the Harambee Stars.

Speaking in a media forum for sports journalists covering the match at Transcorp Hotel, Calabar, Wednesday, the coach described the pitch as the best in the country and very good for the display of good soccer artistry.

"Yes, we had a feel of the turf yesterday and I must confess that I am highly impressed even though there is still room for improvement. For me, this is the best stadium in the country for now and I hope other states will have something like this soon," Keshi said.

"The stadium manager deserves a lot of commendation for the good work he has done on the pitch because there is a lot of improvement from our last game against Liberia.

He noted that the U.J. Esuene Stadium, ``is the best playing turf in Nigeria for now'' and commended the stadium management for keeping the pitch lush green.

He, then tasked managers of other stadia in the country to emulate the U. J. Esuene stadium management.

As far as i've heard, that Calabar pitch is like the best pitch we have in Nigeria. Kenya players would not regret playing on it
