Determined to enhance industrial development, the Ogun State Government has embarked on a mapping exercise to determine cost of reconstructing network of roads within the OPIC Industrial Estate in Agbara.

Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Otunba Bimbo Ashiru made this known during an industrial tour which took him to Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc and Rekitt Benkister, both located in the estate.

He stated that the government was ready to partner with owners of business concerns within the estate to further develop infrastructures, pointing out that government cannot do it all alone. “As a government, we are ready to partner with any company that is interested in complementing our effort to rebuild the State. Ashiru said.

The commissioner reaffirmed government’s commitment to ensure safety of lives and properties across the State through the strengthening of security apparatus, a step which he said had reduced crime rate in the State. He implored business owners in the State to be conscious of the environmental impact of their activities, urging them to put in place measures to curb environmental hazards.

On ways of reducing cost of production, the Commissioner charged the manufacturers to explore the possibility of using gas as an alternative means of generating power. He said doing this would reduce dependence on electricity and ultimately bring down cost of production.

Ashiru did not fail to remind them of the need to fulfill their financial obligations to government by timely remittance of taxes and levies, adding that government was already taking steps to prevent double taxation.

In his address, the Group Technical Director, Flour Mills of Nigeria PLC, Engineer Stephen Ndukwe applauded government for its effort to improve the economy of the State. On his part, the Factory Manager, Rekitt Benkister, Mr. Ayo Ajetunmobi solicited more support from government’s support to surmount challenges confronting them.
