JOB Requirements: General Description: Microwave Transmission Planning & Performance Engineer has to play key role in building the transmission network & maintaining its performance. The Engineer must have excellent understanding for Microwave Radio transmission technology and especially IP Radio's. The Engineer must have experience of end-end broadband transmission design topologies, Advance high-capacity Radio technologies,  Capacity planning, IP networking, Microwave link budget and Interference calculations, techniques to counter the interference. The Individual should have good experience of monitoring the Radio network / link performance and taking necessary measures to maintain it to its optimal levels. Microwave Transmission Planning & Performance Engineer will work within the Network Project group in close liaison with Network Operations, Enterprise Sales and Operations Departments.

Major Purpose & Deliverables: Professionally support Network Project activities for planning microwave links for addition of new sites, Network Operations department for regularly optimizing / re-routing the microwave transmission network due to changes coming up due to sites downtime or other issues and Transmission capacity enhancement according to requirements,

Microwave Transmission Planning & Performance Engineer will be mainly responsible for,

•   Generation of a backhaul Plan for Deployment of Sites, including MW connectivity, traffic aggregation and Metro Fiber Termination Plans

•   Contingency Plans for timely completion of Projects

•   Study of Stats of MW Availability & Utilization and generation of Weekly / Monthly Reports for Management

•   Define all KPI's for availability and performance. Optimization of Deployed  Network, to meet KPI's Performing routine MW link health checks and preparing weekly/monthly performance reports

•   Freq Resource Optimization, Link traffic optimization and proposing link up-gradation/ metro fiber plans for future

•   Preparation of IP Plan for Ethernet radios

•   All the links are planned within the permitted tower load with exception of 5%

•   Support to Field and Operations team for quick resolution of issues related to Backhaul

•   Preparing BoQ / BoM for TXN Equipment required to be installed on Towers for various projects

•   Development of RFPs for Radio Backhaul Design and making technical Comparison for offered products by different Vendors

•   Proposing P2P & P2MP solutions to meet various demands of organization

•   Interacting with Core, Access and NOC departments and coming up with collaborated strategies for network evolution

•   Act as a mentor for the younger engineers in the RNP&O / Performance area (as required)

•   Issuing, discussing and/or implementation of recommendations for network improvement

Desired Skills & Experience:

•   Minimum 5 year of documented experience of work in MW Transmission Planning/Implementation/Performance department in mobile networks. ( Preferably majority of the experience should be of Africa Telecom Industry)

•   Min education level required Bachelor degree in communication science or related discipline with cumulative grading equal or greater than Second class Upper division ( 2-1)

•   Hands On experience on MW Planning Tools (Pathloss, MapInfo)

•   Handling of Multi-vendor Equipment Experience is an advantage

•   Low level understanding of MW Radio Principles and Fiber Transmission Protocols

•   Good knowledge of Networking and IP-Protocols, CCNA Level knowledge is a must

•   Minimum 3 Years of Field Experience of Microwave links Installation & Maintenance.

•   MS-Office skills

•   Ability to work independently and to build up good team relations

•   Self-motivated, flexible and capable to supervise teams in field and office
