Colleagues have continued to salute the class and exploits of former African Footballer of the Year Rashidi Yekini, who died a year ago.

Nigeria's most prolific international striker Yekini passed away on May 4 2012 at the age of 48 after a brief illness.

He remains Nigeria most prolific striker with an all- time record of 37 goals and was the first Nigeria star to be named Africa's best player in 1993.

His goals qualified Nigeria for a first-ever World Cup in 1994 and he went on to score the country's first-ever goal at football's global showpiece event.

Shorunmu, who played alongside Yekini in the Super Eagles as well as at Swiss side FC Zurich, told MTNFootball.com the legendary striker it will take another generation before another lethal striker in his class will emerge.

"Rashidi was a hero and a goal king who can't be replaced in the national team. He was an important to the team whenever there was a game for the country and always gave his best for the Super Eagles when he was alive," hailed Shorunmu, who has suggested a major stadium be named after 'The Goals-Father'.

"There is no player to be compare with him in the present Eagles as it will take 10 years or more to replace him, you can't compare him with any other player he just an outstanding player and dedicated to his job anytime, any day."
