Nigerian defender Danny Shittu is delighted to have been crowned Millwall's 2012/13 Player of the Year at Sunday night's special Dinner Dance at The Den.

Shittu who snubbed a chance to return to the Super Eagles was quick to pay tribute to both the fans and his fellow team-mates adding that it was a dream come true for him since he made a return back to the club he first joined in 2010.

The former Bolton Wanderers defender rejoined Millwall on a one-year contract and was named as vice-captain.

Shittu was a double winner, scooping both the Junior Lions and MSC awards - and was quick to pay tribute to both the fans and his fellow team-mates.

"I was shocked to get the captain's armband, but it has been a dream come true for me since I came back to Millwall," he beamed.

"I want to thank everybody, my team-mates, the gaffer, the chairman and directors and everyone who works behind the scenes at the club.

"There has been a lot of things that have happened this season that I'll remember forever."

We're proud to stand here and say that we are still in the Championship for another year and have been to Wembley."he concluded.

Congratulations to Danny Shittu but I hope he leaves that club soon. He would be better off in a quality english clubs.

Danny Shittu's experience is needed at that club so they must do everything possible to keep him with them. I don't think he would be there for long though.
