Job Title: Grants Manager, Private Sector Growth in Nigeria

Objective of the programme: The aim of the programme is to promote livelihoods in Nigeria through value chain promotion to increase economic growth, employment and incomes. The programme will be active in the Niger Delta region and will utilise the Making Markets Work for the Poor (M4P) approach to ensure that interventions are pro-poor and inclusive of vulnerable groups, working in close collaboration with the extractive industries to support community engagement.

Objective of the role: We are seeking applications from highly experienced accounts and financial managers for the role of Challenge Fund Manager.  The role of Challenge Fund Manager will manage the accounts of the projects, as well as any external grant disbursement.

Length of the project: 4 years

Start Date: August 2013

Duties and Responsibilities:

•   Establish robust and transparent grants procedures; including the development of a Grants Manual and other tools as required;

•   Manage the grants management operations of the basket fund;

•   Support the assessment  of the financial, grants management  and administrative capacity of grantees;

•   Support the on-going assessment of performance delivery of grantees against project objectives;

•   Guide grantees in formulating their proposals according to DFID guidelines;

•   Provide other support to the team effort as requested by Team Leader;

•   Contribute to efforts in meeting donor reporting requirements as well as reporting to DAI Europe home office

Requirements:

•   Challenge Grant management and development of grant mechanisms

•   Experience working with DFID and/or other donors

•   Experience working in Nigeria and/or West Africa

•   Strong skill set in reporting, finance and monitoring and evaluation

•   Understanding of  Nigeria value chains would be an advantage

•   Experience establishing and managing grants programs

•   Excellent communication skills

•   Fluency in English (both written and oral) is essential

•   An advanced degree in finance, business administration, public administration, economics, or other relevant field
