Speaker of House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State and Chairman of Peace Mass Transit, Sam Onyeishi, were yesterday awarded doctorate degrees at the 15th convocation of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology.

Tambuwal was honoured with Doctor of Laws in recognition of his outstanding Public Service at the National Assembly, just as the Akwa Ibom governor received Doctor of Public Administration for excellence in governance. Business mogul and one of the leading transporters in Nigeria, Chief Sam Onyeishi, bagged Doctor of Business Administration for his outstanding contributions to the economic development of Nigeria.

Also, Engr. Cyril Udeh was honoured with the same Doctor of Business Administration for his extraordinary interest in the development of ESUT. A total of 12,703 students graduated with first degrees, postgraduate diplomas, masters and Phd in the 2010/2011 and 2011/2012 academic sessions. Tambuwal said he received the conferment with the greatest sense of humility, adding that ESUT remains the abiding testimony of the foresight of its founding fathers. He commended the qualitative and quantitative skilled human capital ESUT has produced, noting that a nation that ignores technology is walking the path of stagnation, just like a nation that promotes it walks in the path of steady and speedy climb on the development ladder.

Another recipient, Dr. Sam Onyeishi said he would continue to use his wealth from God for human development and posterity. Onyeishu pledged to erect a building for the university community and donated N20 million to ESUT trust fund.
