Widows of slain policemen issued cheques by Nasarawa Government.

                        Widows of the killed policemen who have been barricading Akwanga-Lafia highway in protest of the killing of their husbands for close to a week now were issued with cheques to ameliorate their deprivation.

The State Governor, Umaru Tanko Al-makura who presented the cheques through the Secretary to the State Government, Hajiya Zainab Abdulmunin commiserates with the widows over the loss.

In another development, over 10 Policemen of Eggon origin have been arrested and detained by the Nasarawa State Police Command.  They were arrested in connection with the alleged leak of the ill- fated, May 7 security operations on a shrine in Alakyo in Lafia to members of Ombatse, a traditional religion of the Eggon people.

A team of detectives arrested two Eggon policemen on Friday,the May, 2013 with one of them whose name was simply given as corporal Enugu identified as one of the operatives who returned safely from the operation where over 100 policemen and personnel of security agencies were killed.

Since the arrest of corporal Enugu and Haruna, no fewer than 10 other policemen have now been detained.
