Oyo State - Ajimobi receives religious leaders’ blessings for second term

Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State on Monday received the blessings of religious leaders in the State for his second term in office.

The Governor, who was the guest of honour at the third session of the fifth synod of the Ibadan North Anglican Diocese, held at the St. Peter's Anglican Cathedral, Aremo, Ibadan, was eulogized for his outstanding performance within a space of two years.

The President of the Synod and Bishop of Ibadan North Anglican Diocese, Most Rev. Segun Okubadejo, who led the prayer, described Governor Ajimobi's emergence as Governor as a divine intervention in the affairs of the State.

He said that the Governor came at a time when the people of the State were yearning for a good leader who would run the State with the fear of God, deliver good governance and rescue the State from the brink of precipice.

Rev. Okubadejo, who said that he was marvelled at the unprecedented transformation of the State, prayed God to use Governor Ajimobi to break the second term jinx in the State.

"With your performance so far, God may use you to break the second term jinx in Oyo State to become the first Governor to have a second term in office.

"You promised the people of Oyo State during your campaign that you would make life better for them; you are fulfilling your promises and meeting the expectations of the electorate.

"I want to thank God that the grace of leadership, the grace of wisdom, the grace of giving and of service to humanity and other endowments which God has deposited in you have not been a waste in any way. Do not relent. God is on your side,'' he said.

Governor Ajimobi, in his address, assured the people of the State that he would consolidate on his present achievements and do everything within his powers to further move the State forward and turn it into a destination of choice for investors.

He thanked religious leaders in the State for their support through their unrelenting prayers, which he said, had sustained his administration so far.

"I want to specifically acknowledge the prayers of the clergy and the laity in arresting the principalities who are displeased with the transformational initiatives of our administration,'' the governor said.

Governor Ajimobi, while describing the theme of the synod: "The Waste of Grace'' as extremely appropriate, especially against the backdrop of the current situation in the country, stressed the need for leaders to use the grace given to them by God for the benefit of humanity.

"God has given us all the grace to be human beings, to live, to serve and to be Godly. We must therefore use the grace rightly. I must say that it is not easy to lead, especially when you want to change things. Change is extremely difficult, particularly when people are not certain about the accruable benefit. This notwithstanding, we have the courage to exhibit the grace God has given to us by being good leaders,'' he said.

Receiving blessings is not the case right about now. He must've done something to impress the citizens so they would vote him in again.
