10th FUTO Governing Council inaugurated.

futo                        The Pro-Chancellor and the Chairman of the 10th Governing Council of the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO), Dr. Emma Enemuo had promised that his team will work assiduously to raise the standard of the University to be among the best 20 universities in the World before their tenure ends.

He said that they would leave the University far much better than they found it, based on the calibre of human materials in his team and in the University's management, from whom he solicited support.

The Federal University of Technology Owerri Governing Council Chairman made the promise during the inauguration ceremony of the 10th Governing Council of Federal University of Technology Owerri held at the Institution.

He informed the University Community that he intends to run an open door policy where he will be very accessible to anyone who wants to discuss about the University with him.

Dr. Enemuo explained that their functions were well defined.  He pointed out that they were not for day to day operations of the University rather their functions were essentially advisory, supervisory, oversight, policy formulation implementation and any other directive from the chancellor.

The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Chigozie Asiabaka congratulated both the external and internal members of the University Governing Council and asserted that with such men and women of honour taking over affairs of the University, the quest for excellence for the university would soon receive a serious boost.   He said that on their own, they would improve on the strides in academic development, qualitative, establishment of new and strategic centre and institutes, industrial relations, massive infrastructural development.

Professor Asiabaka explained that steps had been taken so far, to address the ever increasing requirement of a third generation University like theirs, there were still yawning gaps to be filled and that he is optimistic that with the support, co-operation, understanding and encouragement of the 10th Governing Council of the institution, they would together reach the target destination on record time.

HRH Eze Alex Njemanze Ozuruigbo V of Owerri thanked the team and the VC of the Federal University of Technology, Professor Asiabaka on the role he played when his palace was gutted by fire.

Eze Njemanze called on the 10th Governing Council of Federal University of Technology Owerri to make sure that Federal University of Technology Owerri gets a full University Community where the staff and students live within the University premises.  He urged the chairman to use this opportunity to write his name in gold before he leaves Federal University of Technology Owerri.
