Emergency rule: Adeboye holds prayer session for business community

Against the backdrop of anticipation that the emergency rule imposed on three north-eastern states of Borno, Adamawa and Yobe will have adverse effects on the country's economy, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has organised a prayer session for those in the business and finance sectors.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor, Mallam Lamido Sanusi, said last week that the emergency rule would have negative effects on the economy. Pastor Adeboye, will as a result, hold a special prayer session with all business executives, including chairmen and chief Executive Officers of public and private business conglomerate and multinationals on Sunday, June 2, 2013.

The event which comes up at the main auditorium of the Headquarters' Church (Throne of Grace), in Ebute Metta, Lagos, according to Pastor Goke Aniyeloye, the pastor in charge of Special Duties for the church. Aniyeloye disclosed this in an interview with Sunday Mirror, saying the prayers are aimed at seeking the face of God to strengthen and guide all business executives and protect their businesses from the possible effect of the emergency rule and the global economic meltdown across the globe.

Pastor Aniyeloye said Daddy G.O, as Pastor Adeboye is fondly called, would also pray specially for an early end to the emergency rule and the lingering security challenges confronting the nation, "as no business thrives in time of crisis and unrest like Nigeria is now being made to live with, for some time now.

"Like we all know, in the entire world, businesses are not doing well. There is this global economic meltdown. We have the belief that for anyone in Christ, whatever that is working against others will not work against him because the Bible made us understand that right in the country, city and town, where people were crying of lack, that same year, the scripture said Isaac sowed and reaped in hundred folds.

"This tells us that if you are in Christ, and you abide by His word and cry unto Him, there is every assurance that whatever that has been working against others, would work in your favour." "This is why we decided that since there is this further devastation of our economy by the emergency rule in three northern states, to flush out the Boko Haram terrorist activities, an ill wind that blows no man any good, companies and industries, both public, private and multi-national, must continue to exist and survive and do well."

"Our father in the Lord and General Overseer, Pastor E. A. Adeboye will offer special prayer against stagnation or attack or collapse of any business or attack and untimely death of any business executive. He will also be praying for the healthy growth of businesses and the business executive and for peace and tranquility in our dear father land because in time of crisis, people will not have their freedom and the right frame of mind to transact good business," he disclosed.

He further explained, saying, "Daddy G.O. will also pray for the divine wisdom of God for all business executives to plan well and take the right decision, particularly at this unpredictably critical stage of our economy. You know we can't say because of the economy, we should allow people to be killed indiscriminately every day.

"So, in as much as the state of emergency on the three states is okay by all, it is definitely going to affect the economy of the three states and the country at large. With this scheduled prayer with Daddy G.O; we believe God will intervene in the affairs of this nation and the state of emergency that has been declared and in no time, it will be lifted for business to thrive in a free and peaceful atmosphere. Pastor Goke assured that after the prayer by the G.O, business executives should look forward to a very successful business ventures under congenial atmosphere .
