A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Davies Sokonte, has alleged threats to his life by individuals he said are against the Governor of Rivers State, Chibuike Amaechi.

Amaechi had earlier last week raised the alarm over threats to his own life.

Sokonte, who raised the alarm at the weekend, alleged that 'some faceless persons have been issuing death threats on him for his refusal to dump the governor as some persons in the Presidency make efforts at sustaining the ongoing crisis between the governor and the President, with the objective of having Amaechi thrown out of office." He said he won't switch camps or dump the governor.

He accused the Presidency of being against Amaechi, because according to him, the governor is fighting for a portion of the 'national cake' for the state. He said traducers of the governor are sycophants in the Presidency.

His words; "Recently, I and members of my near and extended family have come under tremendous attacks due to my principled stance concerning the issues of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Rivers State and my support for Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, the Governor of Rivers State on his just and right struggle to ensure that Rivers State gets her fair share from the Federal Government."
