Chairman of House of Representatives Committee on Legislative Budget and Research, Opeyemi Bamidele, has urged Governor Kayode Fayemi not to probe ousted Governor Segun Oni's administration.

Bamidele, an Action Congress of Nigeria stalwart, said this in a statement on Monday.

Fayemi on Saturday in Ado Ekiti said he would probe the financial transactions under Oni's administration.

But Bamidele said the governor's plan would only  constitute a distraction.

Bamidele said, "I call on Dr. Kayode Fayemi to jettison the idea of instituting a probe into the programmes and activities of Segun Oni administration. Tempting as this might sound, it will be much more distracting than even the (election) law suit.

"This is moreso when one realises that Ekiti politics in the last decade has been characterised by vindictiveness and retaliatory policies and attitudes that have ended up placing the state in a barber's chair which goes round and round ad infinitum without actually moving the state any inch forward.

"The truth which must be told about Ekiti is that in the last 17 years of her creation, many things have happened which had led to her stunted growth and disappointment of the founding fathers and well meaning citizens of the state, many of whom have become heart broken and frustrated."
