Fani-Kayode Made Illegal Payments, Witness Tells Court

THE Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, witness, yesterday, told a  Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, that former Minister of Aviation, Mr Femi Fani-Kayode, allegedly made several illegal payments as Minister of Aviation.

The EFCC witness, Bashir Abdulahi, formerly an operative with EFCC, though  now at Force Headquaters in Abuja, said he investigated alleged mismanagement of fund by Fani-Kayode, adding that his team started investigating Fani Kayode after EFCC received a petition alleging mismanagement of aviation fund.

Led in evidence by the prosecution counsel, the witness said:  "The petition about mismanagement of aviation fund was assigned to my team for investigation. I and other members of the team assigned responsibilities to ourselves and collected various documents that would assist our investigation."
