Nigeria: a huge market for power investment; says Kuchi Minister of State, Power.

Hajia-Zainab-Ibrahim-Kuchi                        The Minister of State, Hajiya Zainab Ibrahim Kuchi has clarified that Nigeria is a huge market for investment in power sector, considering its huge population.   While reacting to news media reports in some national dailies, she debunked the report that 120 million Nigerians are in darkness, insisting that, her statement was aimed at investors and what she said is that in line with the on-going divestment programme in the sector, "There is huge market to sell the good investment opportunities in the Nigerian electricity market".

The 120 millions Nigerians mentioned by the Minister, is in the context of the large available market in the country.

According to the Minister, the overall need to attract investors into sector informed her position when she said, "Privatization is at it conclusive stage come July.   What we need to focus on is the commercialization of power sector."

She advised the media to adhere strictly to the ethics of their profession by reporting, fairly and accurately.
