The Federal Character Commission has warned that it would not hesitate to sanction erring institutions or agencies which do not reflect federal character principles in its staffing.

The Commissioner representing Nasarawa State, Barrister Al-aman T. Alakayi made the statement during a visit to the Federal Medical Centre (FMIC), Keffi in Nasarawa State recently.

He said that the warning became necessary following series of petitions against Federal Institutions alleging injustice and nepotism during staff recruitment.

Mr Alakayi maintained that the Commission had received a number of petitions against the Centre, alleging lop sided staff recruitment, noting that after analyzing data submitted by the management, it discovered imbalance in the nominal roll of staff on grade level 1 – 06.

The Chief Medical Director of Federal Medical Centre (FMIC), Keffi, Dr. Joshua Guyan regretted that staff recruitment at the Centre had always been a herculean task due to pressures from stakeholders, adding that most complaints on the exercise recently emanated from those who benefited most.
