Job Title: Senior Manager – Engineering

LOCATION: Lagos Island, Nigeria

REMUNERATION: Negotiable but Very Attractive

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer. The successful candidate will co-ordinate the affairs of the Technical Department which includes the Interconnect, and IT Departments.

Specific responsibilities will include:

•   Providing first line of contact with the Technical Partners of the company.

•   Project implementation and technical supervision of subcontractors or service partners.

•   Point of purchase and negotiation management support.

•   Project and department budgeting, productivity reporting and record keeping.

•   Manage technical relationships with other telecom operators.

•   Regular analysis, maintenance and distribution of traffic and activity logs and other key documents

•   Ensure that agreed engineering performance targets are reached.

•   Providing assistance and directive to managers and staff of the Technical group, and managing other material resources of the group.

•   Assigning work and responsibilities to members of the Technical group.

•   Ensuring that proper operation and maintenance schedules of the, Power, Switching, Transmission and Information Systems equipment are strictly adhered to and of internationally agreed standards.

•   Develop and ensure compliance with processes and procedures for the Technical group.

•   Providing a continuous pipeline of competent managers within the company.

•   Setting targets for staff within the Technical group and providing assistance in ensuring that these targets are met.

•   Provide appropriate platform to ensure proficiency by providing adequate training for staff of the Technical group.

•   Regular planning sessions with Head of departments to keep abreast of innovations in technology and network upgrades and expansion costs and negotiating these options relative to cost and service delivery.

•   Close coordination with the Heads of departments to ensure that business imperatives are addressed in the planning, expansion and operation of the network.

•   Acting as watch dog in matters of company technical ethics and abiding by regulations and standards as set by the regulators.

•   Build out the company's national network infrastructure for interconnectivity and ensure their optimal utilization and uptime

•   regular reporting to management on departmental issues, functions and projects related developments

•   and other functions as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES:

•   Good first degree in Engineering [Telecoms or Electrical / Electronics] from a reputable institution, higher degree will be an added advantage.

•   Minimum 10 years working experience with 5 years in managerial capacity in a similar role.

•   Candidate must have strong strategic orientation, demonstrable leadership and interpersonal skills.
