The National Vanguard for Democracy and Development (NVDD) and the Movement for Democratic Sustainability (MDS) yesterday advised former Vice-President, and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential aspirant, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, to accept defeat in las Thursday primaries. The Immigration Service (NIS) is seeking assistance in revamping border infrastructure on a Public Private Partnership (PP) basis.

Its Comptroller-General Mrs. Rose Uzoma, who spoke yesterday in Abuja, said such partnership would make for effective migration management.

Mrs. Uzoma said past efforts to upscale border infrastructure yielded little result because of limited budgetary allocation to the service.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has concluded arrangements to deploy two technicians to each of the 774 local governments in the country.



Also, the three companies that supplied the Direct Data Capture (DDC) machines have begun arrangements to deploy engineers to all states.

The companies are Zinox Technologies Ltd, which was contracted to supply 80,000 units at $1, 771. 73 per unit; Messrs Haier Electrical Appliances Corp Ltd, 30,000 units at $1, 699. 60 per unit; and Avante International Technology Inc., 22,000 units at $1, 699. 60 per unit.

INEC to deploy technicians to local govts

Three riot policemen in the security team of Vice President Namadi Sambo are at the Intensive Care Unit of a Kaduna hospital after being knocked down by a patrol vehicle belonging to Kaduna State's special security outfit, Operation Yaki.

Sambo was in Kaduna to register.

The incident took place few metres from the Ribadu polling unit where he registered. It involved a pick up Hilux van with registration number AH 468 MKR which lost control on Tafawa Balewa Way in the heart of Kaduna metropolis. It was Sambo's convoy.

The Chairman of Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Lagos State Mr. Idowu Obasa yesterday said the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) must correct the anomalies in the voter registration.

He said failure to do this would confirm the belief that there was a plan to undermine the exercise.
