The men and women's 400m races turned out to be the highlights of the second day of competition at the ongoing AFN/CRS All-Nigeria Athletics Championships holding in Calabar, Cross River State.  It was a two-horse race between US-based athletes, Biola Onakoya and Noah Akwu in the men's event but the latter eventually edged out the former to grab the title with a Personal Best of 45.61secs. Onakoya and Isah Salihu followed with 45.81 and 46.20 respectively.  Akwu has garnered significant improvement in the 400m, having concentrated on the 200m for the better part of this season.  The women's category was equally explosive but championship favourite, Regina George dominated the race as though she if engaged in the race of her life. Her determination paid off with a Personal best of 50.99secs as against a Season's Best of 51.00secs which she ran earlier this year.   While speaking to reporters after her race, she said, "The experience I gained at the Olympics last year was invaluable and it helped in my preparation as well as my collegiate races. I am very happy with my time and the fact that finally I have been able to run inside 50secs. It was a good race and this track is very fast. It is my goal to win a medal at the World Championships."
