PORT HARCOURT— Chairman of Obio Akpor Local Government Caretaker Committee, Rivers State, Mr. Chikordi Dike, has said that his committee would go ahead to allocate stores at the Obio Akpor International Market despite the threat from loyalists of the suspended elected officials of the council.
.
According to him, even if the market was built by the suspended elected executives of the council, the Caretaker Committee has the power to allocate the stores since it was built with the council's money.
.
Dismissing fears in some quarters that the proposed action could provoke another round of crisis, he said that the market was built with the council's funds, adding that a Market Allocation Committee had already been constituted.
.
He said: "The market is not privately owned by any individual. All of us are equal stakeholders in the council. I have formed the Market Allocation Committee."
