Siasia Backs Keshii Over Osaze, Martins Lockout

Former Super Eagles Coach, Samson Siasia has thrown his weight behind Stephen Keshi's decision not to recall the star duo of Peter Osaze Odemwingie and Obafemi Martins into the Eagles nest.

Siasia who spoke with the media after the Eagles training at the Abuja National stadium yesterday evening said that people should not try to impose players on Keshi if the team must grow.

He said Keshi has been doing a good job with the Eagles and it is only natural that the powers that be allow him to complete what he has started.

"Whoever he deems fit to invite or play is his decision and it should be respected because he is the one who will be fired if the team fails to perform,'' says Siasia who agrees with his successor's stance that he would not allow people who know next to nothing about football or football management but have found themselves administering it to dictate to him.

'I support his insistence that nobody will dictate to him on his team selection.

"They said I was a mafia and stubborn but they now have the king of the mafia to contend with. People should allow coaches to do their job and not seat in office and direct what goes on on the pitch," Sia One blasts.

On the FIFA Confederations Cup,Siasia said that the Eagles did well adding that if they had taken the chances they created, it could have been an entirely different story.

"The team would have gotten to the semi-finals at least if they had the likes of (Emmanuel) Emenike, (Victor) Moses and (Ogenyi) Onazi available for selection.I think performance-wise,the team showed there is hope for Nigerian football,'' he said.

Samson Siasia should try as much as possible to stay away from Super Eagles matters...It'll only result into controversy.
