THE meeting between the leadership of National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG, and its sister union, PENGASSAN, with the Federal Government over the lingering problems facing the oil and gas industry ended up in deadlock.
.
The joint council meeting of NUPENG and PENGASSAN at a briefing, yesterday evening, said that following Federal Government's insensitivity towards the demands of the unions and the challenging security situation in the country, the unions would continue with the strike they embarked upon on Monday.
.
Chairman of Joint National Executive Council meeting, Mr. Igwe Achese, said that available indices on the nation's economy showed that the economy was dwindling contrary to the position of the Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, that the economy had appreciated.
.
He called for the immediate dissolution of the Federal Executive Council for a new one to be re constituted.
