Atletico Sign Striker Baptistao From Rayo

Atletico Madrid have signed Brazilian striker Leo Baptistao from neighbours Rayo Vallecano, the Spanish cup winners said on Friday.

According to media reports, Atletico have paid €9.5 million for the 20 year-old striker, who joined Rayo as a teenager in 2011.

Baptistao was due to be presented by Atletico to the media and fans later Friday. He will replace Colombian forward Radamel Falcao, sold to AS Monaco in June for €45 million, and is expected to link up well with fellow Brazilian Diego Costa.

The signing of Baptistao comes after Atletico coach Diego Simeone returned from vacation this week and publicly expressed his annoyance at the club having made no signings in his absence.
