Due to perceived turn of event and happenings in the country, the Region 2 youths of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) have concluded plans to host the first ever regional youth convention in the Lagos Region, aimed at showing the way forward for the Nigerian youths to deploy their talents in navigating the very murky waters of the Nigerian politics and economy.

The programme which holds between July 12 and 13, 2013, from 9am each day, with the theme: "Repositioning The Youth For Nation Building; The Interswitch Story", is also aimed at encouraging the youths to discover their talents and skills toward building a virile nation where no man is oppressed.

According to Pastor Wale Adeduro, Regional Youth Pastor, incharge, RCCG Region 2, the programme which is open to all Nigerian youths, irrespective of their religious affiliation, holds at the RCCG Kingdom Province 28, Ojota/ Ogudu Expressway. Between 9am and 3pm, "the special youth convention he remarked, is designed as a major departure from regular Christian convention and it is expected to feature both spiritual, business and sporting activities.

Day one of the programme, he said, will feature indoor games like table tennis, scrabble, chess, basketball, etc; at competitive and exhibition levels. "In the evening of the same day, beginning from 6pm, we will have a spiritual backing and basis for the programme itself where two of our guest ministers will preach. And they are not just preacher, they are equally people who are well tested in the market place.

The grand finale on Saturday, July 13, he said, will present Mr. Michele Elegbe, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Interswitch leading discussion on repositioning the youth for nation building, using the interswitch story as a case study. The session will dwell on how interswitch began and became a multibillion dollar business. The MD will also share his experience how he is able to go through the challenges in the market place. There will also be breakout session where different professionals will engage the youth in the operation aspect of their businesses.

"A lot of youths are beginning to be confused, disillusioned and discouraged about the way things are going in Nigeria, especially those who have talents, ideas, skills and don't know how to apply them. They are not so sure how to navigate the very murky water of the Nigerian economy. So, we are organising this convention to encourage them to take decisive steps to discover and deploy their talents, or skills towards nation building in spite of the obvious challenges in the economy and politic

"It is our determination to instill in them that there is still light at the end of the tunnel because the youths of today are the future of our nation. We are most particular about those who are determined to deploy their talents in a godly manner. And we are using Interswitch, the company that revolutionalised financial business transaction through the ATM card about a decade ago, which is a major departure Christian programme as our case study. You will agree with me, that the ATM card has changed the way we transact business, couple with the newly introduced cashless policy of the Federal government. Nigeria. Nodoubt, Interswitch has blazed the trail".

The Interswitch story is chosen because it will challenge, inspire and bolster the confidence of the Nigerian youths that there is still room at the top for those who desire to be diligent and godly in their lives.
