Norwich Agree Fee For Celtic's Hooper

Norwich City have agreed a fee with Celtic for Gary Hooper as they look set to beat QPR to the striker's signature.

Hooper, 25, was on the verge of a move to the Championship side after a bid in the region of £5m was accepted by Celtic on Wednesday.

But Norwich are understood to have now matched that valuation of the former Scunthorpe man and hope to sign him.

Hooper wants to play in the Premier League and is due for a medical at Norwich on Thursday afternoon.

Harry Redknapp backed Hooper to score the goals to ensure a quick return to the Premier League for Queens Park Rangers after his club had a bid accepted.

But Norwich's late intervention leaves his Loftus Road move in doubt, with the player given a choice between the two clubs.

The striker, who was used as a substitute in Tuesday's Champions League qualifying win against Cliftonville, scored 31 goals for the Scottish champions last season.

Since moving to Glasgow from Scunthorpe in a £2.4m deal in 2010, he has been Celtic's top scorer in each of the last three seasons and has one year remaining on his contract.

Hooper would be Norwich's seventh signing of the summer.
