Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State has called on the local governments in the country to demand from the Federal Government all monies "illegally" deducted from their allocations.

The governor gave the charge on Thursday while receiving the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, Edo State chapter members, in Benin.

He said, "I want to use this opportunity to ask you to check in your respective local governments and give us written reports on the projects which the Federal Government purportedly executed on behalf of your councils. I am talking specifically of the health centres and the contracts, which the Federal Government illegally awarded, and money illegally deducted from the councils' accounts.

"When people talk of autonomy, they do not deal with the basic things. For me, it is scandalous that Abuja decides to award contracts on behalf of the 774 local governments to construct health centres.

"I have been going round and I have not seen the ones in Edo State, yet deductions have been made for them.

"I think you have the right to insist that those monies must be paid and to question the logic behind that central award of the contracts."

Leader of the delegation, Itohan Osahon-Ogbeide, said the visit was to thank the governor for his assistance to the association.

Adams Oshiomole is just a kind of man any state would love to have as a governor. The man is the kind that can bring the CHANGE.
