Nigeria forward to miss St Mirren trip Shola Ameobi is to miss Newcastle's visit to St Mirren.
.
The striker suffered a dead leg after scoring what turned out to be the only goal of the game at Blackpool.
.
Ameobi netted early in the match – his third in four pre-season games – but didn't reappear for the second half, having been replaced by Haris Vuckic.
.
"Shola's got a little bit a dead leg that might keep him out of St Mirren, but no more than that," Pardew told SportMail.
.
Pardew felt United missed Ameobi's presence up front in the second half, when Blackpool, and especially Tom Ince, took the game to their visitors.
.
"We had to defend well in the second half," said Pardew. "We didn't have enough presence up top, really. That's something we need to address, but as a workout, I couldn't be more pleased.
.
"I thought we played some really good stuff for little spells.
.
"The passing was crisp and sharp, and our fitness levels were pretty good for where we're at.
.
"I was pleased with that, and we'll get fitter and stronger as we go along."

Shola Ameobi is definately a good player whether he gets playing times or not. He knows his football very well. I must commend Newcastle for making him.
