The Minister of Power, Professor Chinedu Nebo has paid a condolence visit to the leadership of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Abuja, over the unfortunate death of three Journalists from the South West Chapels of the Union.   It would be recalled that the some Journalists were involved in a ghastly motor accident in Ilesa, Osun State, on their return leg to their stations after an official engagement in Abuja.

The Minister, who was one of the earlier callers, said the prompt condolence visit is informed by the indispensible role of journalists as professionals in the nation's history and development.

He acknowledged the immeasurable supports of practitioners especially those on specialized beat like Energy, in the dissemination of factual often technical information about the power sector, often times misunderstood by laymen.

Since assumption of duty, he said journalists have paid very useful role in "capturing in clear terms, enormous challenges, I met on ground, hence in so doing they have made my job much easier."

Furthermore, he expressed his satisfaction with their level of dedication to duty, punctuality to assignment and their thorough understanding of the power sector as exhibited by Energy Correspondents in particular.

He cannot therefore, but be moved by the loss of these professionals all who died at their prime.

He tasked the NUJ family to take heart, while appreciating the event as an act of God, which should make the leadership offer more patriotic services to the nation.   "May the good Lord grant these compatriots eternal rest, and to those still in the hospital, he prayed for their quick recovery", he said.

The Minister later made personal financial donation as assistance towards the defrayment of the hospital bills for those who were injured.
