Yobo Plays For 90 Minutes Again

Super Eagles skipper Joseph Yobo played the entire duration of Fenerbahce's 3-1 home win over Salzburg in Tuesday night's UEFA Champions third round clash at the Sükrü Saracoglu stadium to qualify 4-2 on aggregate for the play-offs of the competition.

Jonathan Soriano gave the visitors an early lead in the fourth minute before goals from Raul Meireles, Moussa Sow and Pierre Webo in the first half upturned their poor start in the encounter.

The former Everton defender,shut out of the national team despite seeing regular actions in one of the top clubs in Europe was one of the better players in a lacklustre Fenerbahce team. The Nigerian also featured for the enitre duration of the first leg where the Turkish Super Lig side claimed a 1-1 draw at Salzburg.

Fenerbahçe coach Ersun Yanal admitted after the clash that his side were not at their best but he was glad they qualified for the play-offs.

"We did not play good but we won, we are going to be better in our subsquent games and I also want to congratulate my players," he said.

The draws for the play-offs will be held on Friday and Fenerbahce may likely face English Premiership side Arsenal, AC Milan or Schalke 04.
