Ogun State Government is intensifying effort towards the relocation of Kara Cattle market along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway to a more suitable place to make room for proper development of the site.

To this end, a team of government officials led by the Deputy Governor, Prince Segun Adesegun, has visited the proposed new site located at Arepo in Ifo Local Government Area with an assurance that an alternative site with adequate water and other amenities were being sought out for a successful relocation of the market.

While allaying fear of the cattle sellers that government was not prepared to allocate new sites to them, Prince Adesegun said his visit to the site was at the instance of the State governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, assuring that no stone would be left unturned in finding a more convenient place for them as they contribute to the economic development of the State.

Speaking after the inspection, the Commissioner for Physical Planning, Mr. Adebayo Fari, said as part of the on-going transformation in the State, government was working tirelessly to ensure smooth relocation of the Cattle Market to a more comfortable and convenient place that would meet the needs of the sellers.

He said a team of Surveyors had been assigned to carry out proper survey to ascertain the suitability of the area for the new market, adding that the present market was an eyesore that was becoming an embarrassment to the State.

Also speaking, Commissioner for Environment, Dr. Lanre Tejuoso assured that the new market would not pose any environmental threats, saying that adequate measures had been taken to make the environment friendly. He expressed delight at the level of development in the area, saying that it was an indication that the State was making steady progress.
