Job Title: Civils Quantity Surveyor

Responsible to: Senior Quantity Surveyor

Job Summary/Purpose: Managing all quantities relating to civil engineering projects, from the initial calculations to the final figures.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Key Responsibility:

1.     Obtaining and updating formation levels providing cut and fill quantities each month in addition to all square metre items associated with roads;

2.     Minimise cost of project and enhance value of investment, while still achieving the required standards and quality;

3.     Preparing tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities with the architect and/or the client;

4.     Undertaking costs analysis for repair and maintenance project work;

5.     Assisting in establishing a client's requirements and undertaking feasibility studies;

6.     Performing risk and value management and cost control;

7.     Identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks;

8.     Preparing and analysing costing for tenders;

9.     Providing advice on contractual claims;

10. Analysing outcomes and writing detailed progress reports;

11. Valuing completed work and arranging payments;

12. Understanding the implications of health and safety regulations.

Person Specification:  

Experience:

•   Minimum qualifications include a relevant degree /diploma in Civil Quantity Surveying or its equivalent

•   Experience of working either for a civils contractor or a civils consultant as a civils quantity surveyor

•   5+ years of experience

•   Strong working knowledge in civil road construction

•   Committed to a minimum of 3+ years full-time living & working in Nigeria.

•   Must possess demonstrable and measurable success in a similar role in a large or medium sized construction company ideally within Nigeria or within a similar challenging environment.

Knowledge and training:

•   Strong civils awareness required.

•   Computer knowledge
