Mission/ Core purpose of the Job:

• To manage and grow CEDAR NOTES as well as develop and generate new liability products for the firm. Trade in a broad range of financial instruments with other financial institutions e.g. Bonds (National, Sub-national and Corporate), Treasury Bills, Commercial Papers, Notes etc. Ensure profitability of the department.

Key Performance Areas:  Core, essential responsibilities / outputs of the position (KPA's)

Task Complexity:

• Regularly meeting with investment analysts and company managers to discuss financial matters

• Ability to deal with buying and selling of investment trusts, stocks, commodities, shares and bonds

• Researching companies/Gathering information

• Making informed financial recommendations and decisions on behalf of the firm

• Keeping up-to-date knowledge about the Nigerian economy, current financial news, financial markets and more

• Manage investment funds to maximize return on client investments

• Using statistical methods to obtain, interpret and present information

• Managing clients; meeting investors to discuss investment strategies

• Assessing and interpreting complicated financial information

• Evaluate the potential of new product developments or market opportunities, according to factors such as business plans, technologies, or market potential

• Attend investment briefings or consult financial media to stay abreast of relevant investment markets

• Monitor regulatory or tax law changes to ensure fund compliance or to capitalize on development opportunities

• Select specific investments or investment mixes for purchase by an investment fund

• Manage and profitably grow Kedari's in-house Fund(s)

• Initiate and champion new financial instruments and products with a view to deepening the firm's product base and grow the clientele base

• Provide regular and timely update/information about the financial markets and implications for business

• Maintain and sustain good working relationships with other financial services firms in the industry

Minimum Requirements:

Qualification:

• Any degree discipline may be accepted, but preferably Business Management, Economics, Financial Management or Numeracy orientated subject

• Professional certificate/training is an added advantage

Experience:

• Extensive asset management experience

• Minimum of 5-7 years in a similar role in an asset management firm or investment banking firm

• Sound knowledge and understanding of investment markets and different products

• Good knowledge of asset/portfolio management as well as asset allocation techniques

• Thorough understanding of the financial markets sector.

• Ability to work with minimum supervision is essential

• Candidate must be able to grow current portfolio size to an appreciable level within a reasonable time frame

• Access to extensive network of individuals within the financial markets industry
