The Gbadamosi Olawuyi Street, Ibadan, Oyo State residence of the former governor of Ondo State, Dr Olusegun Agagu who died last Friday was yesterday calm during a visit by Sunday Mirror, as the main gate to the house was shut against visitors.

None of the family members was sighted but a security man who managed to attend to journalists that besieged the house but refused to disclose his name, said no family member was around and that no condolence register had been opened. He, however, added that the family had promised to bring the condolence register, saying, "but we have not seen them".

Meanwhile, prominent Nigerians have started reacting to his death with the former governor of Oyo State, Senator Rasheed Ladoja describing the death as a rude shock and doubtful to believe, saying, "this is devastating."

Ladoja in a release he personally signed, said his passage at this time is a colossal loss to both the country and Ondo State, while stressing that the vacuum created by his exit would be a great task to fill.

He said, "His ability to overcome every obstacle in his path in administering Ondo State was his personal strength and style of politics. You can disagree with him, but it is important to understand the kind of politician he was. He always strives to be fair to all no matter whose ox is gored.

What was unusual was that he sought to be rooted in people's daily lives, but he also believed that ideology mattered. Hence, his deep thought in core beliefs and values of democratic tents.

"He was a great debater on issues of national importance with depth analysis to sway his listeners, a discipline party loyalist and a team player while we were together in PDP. His love for green court to unwind was unparallel for a man known for his tight schedules".

Ladoja added that the success recorded during his tenure as governor was done with dedication and conviction to the people, stating that his passing leaves a gap in the lives of all who knew him.
