COLLEGE OF HUMANITIES, MANAGEMENT AND SOCIAL SCIENCES.

DEPARTMENT OF TOURISM, MERCHANDISING AND HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT

A. Vacant Position:Laboratory Technologist (CONTISS 07)

Candidates must possess the following qualifications:

i)                    SSCE/GCE (O/LEVEL) or its equivalent plus HND certificate in   Hospitality Management (i.e. Hotel & Catering Management)   with at least 3-5 years of relevant working experience.

ii)                 Candidates must possess good communication skills. Must  demonstrate ability for  effective food and beverages production and service, cooking, baking and menu planning

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

I)                   Maintaining cleanliness of teaching rooms, kitchens and ancillary equipment.

II)                Helping where necessary in all areas of the kitchen and restaurant.

III)              Assisting course instructors in practical work.

IV)              Reporting all mechanical faults and breakages of both large and small equipment.

B. Curator/Gallery Officer CONTISS 05

Candidates for this position must possess the following qualifications:

i)                    SSCE/GCE O/Level certificate or its equivalent plus OND certificate in Tourism Studies with least 3-5 years of work experience in Museum Operation.

ii)                 Candidates must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to organize, present and communicate messages effectively through design.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

i)                   Liaising with schools, colleges and teachers to promote the use of the collections and activities of the museum in line with the national curriculum.

ii)                 Creating and developing educational resources for visitors, schools, families and special interest groups.

iii)               Delivering talks, workshops activities in partnership with storyteller, craftspeople and artists.

iv)               Keeping monthly stock record of gallery items.

C. Cook  CONTISS 05

Candidates must possess the following qualifications:

i)          O/Level Certificate plus OND Certificate in catering operations or Certificate in Catering Craft Practice with at least 3- 5 years work experience in a Kitchen environment.

ii)         Candidates must be able to read and follow a recipe unsupervised

iii)               Candidates must be able to communicate clearly in English with catering officer, kitchen and dining room personnel.

iv)               Candidates  must be able to work in a standing position for long period  of time ( Up to 8 hours)

v)                 Candidates must be physically and medically fit.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

i)                   Handles menu planning in the absence of Catering Officer.

ii)                 Acts as supervisor to the kitchen staff team.

iii)               Refers  to daily Preparation List at the start of each shift for assigned duties

iv)               Maintains a clean and sanitary work station area.

v)                 Attends all scheduled employee meetings and brings suggestions for improvement.

vi)               Performs other related duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager or Manager –on –duty.
