Eto’o Will Be Invited For Knockouts

A day after Cameroon were drawn against
Tunisia in the 2014 World Cup qualifying
knockout phase, the team's assistant
coach Martin Ndtoungou Mpilé insisted
that Samuel Eto'o remains the Indomitable
Lions captain, amid speculations the Chelsea new
signing has retired from international football.

Eto'o was reported to have announced his retirement
to team mates moments after their game against
Libya last week, but many in the central African
nation consider it a game of bluff to put pressure on
the country's football officials.

"Eto'o is still the captain of the Indomitable Lions,"
Mpilé said on Tuesday.

"He has not terminated his contract as captain of the
team. He did not make any official statement about
his retirement. Whatever was said in the players'
dressing room is always a secret and not official. And
therefore until he comes out and announce officially
his retirement from the team we consider those
reports as unofficial.

"Eto'o remains the captain of Cameroon and will be
invited for the World Cup qualifying knockouts
against Tunisia. That is the position of the technical
staff," he said.
