The latest spat in the music industry is between two of its biggest names, Skelewu singer, Davido, and in-demand video director, Sesan. Unlike other spats that were quickly and amicably resolved, however, this is one that is likely to last the test of time as reputations are being dragged severely in the mud over it. Like every other spat, it began on an amicable note.

Skelewu is one of the biggest songs in the country this year, so it was only natural that a big-time director should direct its video. For this purpose, Sesan, who has directed videos for D'Banj (Mo Gbona Feli Feli), 2face (Omo No Dulling), Wande Coal (Bumper 2 Bumper), Iyanya (Jombolo) and other A-list music artists, was chosen. But after Sesan did as was mandated of him, trouble reared its ugly head.

The final product, which suddenly surfaced online, was denied by the owner, Davido, who said that he was shooting another video for it. He even went as far as saying that immediately he saw Sesan's final cut of the video, he knew Skelewu deserved a better video, so he was going to shoot another one with a director, Mr Moe Musa, who is yet to attain Sesan's heights, even though he is acclaimed himself. He also denied knowledge of how the video got released online and without mentioning names indicated that only ne person could have done so.

And with his reputation at stake, the normally reticent Sesan has come out to say that he has no idea of how the video got online and that Davido approved of the video he did for him which he is now denying. In a statement he released, he said, "My attention is drawn toward the chaos surrounding the release of the Skelewu video.

"Myself and my team shot the video for Davido in Nigeria and to the best of my knowledge, my client and his team were very happy with the result, when they watched and approved it. If he has since had a change of heart, that is OK. I am not in any way responsible for the release of the video.

"I believe Davido and myself did a very good job regarding the video production and as a professional of over 10 years, I find it very irresponsible and immature if my client and his management publicly put out false statements/comments, in an attempt to tarnish my name, credibility and reputation."

What will eventually end this brouhaha? Is it Davido or Sesan that will be vindicated? Whose reputation will eventually suffer the most: Davido that is believed to be arrogant or Sesan that is felt can also deliver more than he does in his videos? These are the questions that will inevitably be answered.
