NFF/CBN CUP: Union Bank vows to retain title

Chief Coach of Union Bank F.C of Lagos, Taiwo Enegwea has promised a successful title defence of the Nigeria Football Federation/Central Bank of Nigeria Cup. Enegwea who won the title twice as a player in 2000 and 2002 under late Coach Austin Ofokwu and Franklin Howard told our correspondent that his target is to lead Union Bank to win the NFF/ CBN Cup for the second consecutive year and noted that his players are ready for the title defence.

The ex-youth international who was part of the Saudi '89 Flying Eagles squad to the World Youth Championship, while commending his players for defeating First Bank FC of Lagos by 2 – 1 in last Saturday's semi final clash at the Akure Township Stadium stated that the team is well motivated to retain the trophy.

"I must have to commend my players for displaying good football artistry in the game against First Bank. "Despite a one goal deficit at first half, my players Evans Nwosu and Thomas Oluwafemi Junior scored two brilliant goals to eliminate First Bank they had earlier beaten 1 – 0 in the Owerri zonal play off.

"Now with the final game against CBN in Lokoja on November 19, we are more focused on winning the title and to make Union Bank management and staff proud," Enegwea said.
