Former U-17 Golden Eaglets coach, John Obuh has applauded the sterling performance of the Nigerian team in Tuesday's 4-1 annihilation of Iran in the second round of the on-going FIFA U-17 World cup in United Arab Emirates, UAE.

The victory meant the Golden Eaglets sealed their passage to the quarter finals of the competition where they will meet Uruguay on Saturday.

"I'm really impressed with the result and again the performance of the boys as a team", starts Obuh who guided the team to a silver medal feat in 2009 in Abuja.

"Irrespective of who the opposition is, scoring four goals and playing so well at this stage of the competition tells a lot about the strength of the team"n the newly appointed Enugu Rangers handler said.

Obuh went on to state that he foresees the team reaching the gold medal stage of the FIFA championship if and urged the players to remain focused and avoid unnecessary distractions.

"Inasmuch as I would love them lift the trophy for the fourth time for Nigeria, which I believe they can achieve if they remain focused, ensure adequate concentration and avoid unnecessary distraction, I think there is a whole lot of talents in this team.

"I would love to see these talents harnessed so that they can go ahead to become the future of Nigerian national teams.

"Its important to win the U-17 World Cup at least for the fourth time but I think what matters most is the future of these young players in the Flying Eagles, U-23 Olympic team and the Super Eagles", Obuh sounded.
