Many people were shocked yesterday in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, when a 75-year-old man, identified as Pa Adisa Hassan, allegedly committed suicide after two of his inter -state commercial buses were impounded by officials of the Vehicle Inspection officers (VIO). The deceased, who hanged himself at about 5:0am at his residence in Onward Estate area of the town, was said to have appealed to the VIO officials severally to release his buses, but the agents turned deaf ears to the plea.

National Mirror was told that the late Hassan was on his way to a nearby mosque with some members of his family for the early morning prayer before he suddenly detoured and went to a store in his house where he hanged himself.

Before his death, he was said to have complained bitterly to the family members and his close associates that if his buses were not released, something funny could happen.

Many people were seen sobbing and weeping yesterday while scores were discussing the incident they described as shocking and stunning, when journalists visited the deceased's home.

Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Mr. Ayo Olowe, said: "A resident alerted NSCDC before a team of our officers was drafted to the area."
