The Public Affairs Officers of the United States Consulate in Lagos and Abuja have lauded the National Mirror newspapers and its management for good editorial quality and excellent production.

The officers, Victoria Sloan, Counselor for Public Affairs, US Embassy, Abuja and Dehab Ghebreab, Public Affairs Officers, US Consulate, Lagos, said this yesterday during a courtesy visit to the headquarters of Global Media Mirror, publishers of National Mirror newspaper.

The visitors, who were received by the Acting Managing Director, Fidelis L. Owoamanam, his Deputy, Mr. David Adeagbo and the Daily Editor, National Mirror, Mr. Bolaji Tunji, said National Mirror is one of the consulate's favourites.

According to one of the officers, Dehab, National Mirror is a delight to read daily even as she said that the US Consulate has partnered with National Mirror on a number of projects and will continue to do so.

She said the purpose of the visit was to nurture the existing relationships between the consulate and the newspaper.

While welcoming the visitors; the Acting Managing Director, Fidelis L. Owoamanam, said Global Media Mirror is growing very fast as it keeps expanding daily.

He said: "Here in Global Media Mirror, we are expanding rapidly. We have successfully installed three printing press machines in Lagos, Abuja and Ogbese. We have started installing another one in Port-Harcourt and efforts are on to put another one in Markurdi.

"The whole idea is to have simultaneous printing across the country such that within four hours drive from the press, our newspapers can get to the newsstand. This has helped to jerk up our sales."

Fielding questions from the visitors on the collaboration between National Mirror and Newswatch newspapers, the Daily Editor, Mr. Bolaji Tunji, said the papers have different target audience, adding that though there are areas of collaborations between the two media houses, their managements are distinct.
