Mikel Baffled By Galatasaray Link

Chelsea midfielder Mikel Obi revealed he was baffled by rumours linking him with a move to Galatasaray during the summer transfer window.

"I don't know anything about that.You get lots of speculation from transfer windows, but none of it was from my side. They were all just rumours. I wouldn't see myself deciding to leave.'," Mikel said after being asked about whether he was close to joining Galatasaray.

"I was in the Confederations Cup so didn't have a good pre-season, I knew it would be tough to get back into the team."

The Nigerian international, who has been with Chelsea since 2006, had been closely linked with the Lions over the summer.

The Chelsea midfielder was reported as being in advanced talks with the Turkish champions however, he later denied that negotiations had taken place.

Mikel has struggled to hold down a regular starting XI place this season and has only made four starts for the Blues in 2013-14.

The 26-year-old defensive midfielder joined Chelsea from FK Lyn for €26 million in 2006 and still has four years left on his contract.

Mikel has made 277 appearances for Chelsea during which time he has won the Premier League title, four FA Cups and lifted the Champions League as well as the Europa League trophy.
