Nine teaching staff of Community Secondary School, Aleibiri, in Ekeremor Local Government Area of the state, were, weekend, suspended by the state governor, Mr. Seriake Dickson, for dereliction of duty.
.
The affected teachers were not at their duty posts during the governor unscheduled visit to the school, in the course of his thank you tour to local government areas of the state.
.
The suspended teachers are Tenkiri Pere, Cornet Akpoaresine, Folorunso Funso, Berepigi Tiko, Ebenibo Richard, Zuokumor Erica and Lobia Clara. Dickson, who expressed dismay over some teachers' attitude to duty, ordered their immediate suspension.
.
He said the affected teachers would appear before a disciplinary panel for negligence and leaving the school before closing hour.
.
The present administration, the governor, said would not condone any act of indiscipline, due to the premium it placed on the education sector.
.
According to him, "anybody found wanting in the discharge of his or her official function will be shown the exit door. The suspension of the affected teachers will put their likes on their toes regarding this administration's seriousness and resolve to address the rot in our educational system. Too often, teachers in our various schools, especially those in the communities, have a record of not showing up in classrooms to carry out work for which they are being paid.
