United Biscuits has recently invested in a local company A&P foods, and are now looking to recruit an experienced Technical Operations Process Manager to drive the factory technical agenda on a permanent basis.

Initially, the primary focus of the role will be the establishment of products onto a rotary moulded plant.

You will also be tasked with facilitating a site-specific program of Cost Base Reduction (CBR) activity, New Product Development (NPD) implementation and continuous product & process improvement.

Key Output include but not limited to;

PROCESS DEVELOPMENT/CBR/ NPD/ CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS:

•   Co-ordinates and supports a range of process development projects for the site including CBR activities, NPD launches and continuous product and process improvements.

•   Implements changes to plant design and operation to achieve sustained improvements in process consistency and product compliance.

•   Works as part of a multi- functional team with site Technical, Manufacturing, Engineering, Group Technical, NPD, UBI and Procurement to deliver a range of projects.

•   Plans, runs and reports on factory trials.

•   Ensures compliance with health and safety, Care Of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) and product specifications at all times during trials.

•   Co-ordinates with the site's Laboratory Technicians to support trials or analyse samples.

•   Inputs into the development of product specifications and specification reviews and takes responsibility for new product specifications.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT:

•   Provides regular project reviews to the UBI Technical Operations Implementation Manager and technical team

•   Ensures that the correct project management process is followed for all projects.

•   Ensures all trial data is correctly captured and collated into the appropriate report formats.

•   Ensures that all key information is captured for Bill Of Material (BOM) maintenance.

•   Ensures all the necessary product and process specifications and data record sheets are issued to Manufacturing prior to a Technical change or NPD launch.

FACTORY TECHNICAL SUPPORT:

•   Conducts process capability assessments of new equipment and processes.

•   Provides expert support to Manufacturing where issues with process control adversely affects product quality standards.

•   Provides on-going expert support to Manufacturing during the implementation phase of CBR, NPD and product/ process improvement projects or product transfers.

•   Identifies opportunities for continuous process improvements and develops justifications for capital investment.

Desired Skills and Experience:

Qualifications & Experience:

•   University of similar qualification within one or more of the following fields; food, science, manufacturing or process

•   Traceable work history of technical experience within FMCG, Manufacturing or Production industry

•   Biscuit manufacture experience is desirable

•   PC literate including Microsoft Office ( Minitab also a benefit )

•   Excellent project management skills

•   Lean Sigma tools appreciation.

•   Basic Food Hygiene.

•   Working knowledge of HACCP systems and Product Specifications.

•   Working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Processes.

•   Ingredient functionality.

•   Good communications and Interpersonal skills.
