Navy redeploys Admirals, Commodores

 THE Nigerian Navy has approved major redeployments affecting its nine Rear Admirals and eight Commodores.

They are to man key appointments at the tri-service, Naval Headquarters and the commands levels.

The new appointments followed the voluntary retirement of senior officers who left because of the age-on-rank provision of 35 years of service under the Terms and Conditions of Service (TACOS).

The new redeployments include the appointment of Rear Admiral Dele J. Ezeoba, formerly Deputy Commandant, Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji as the new Chief of Administration, Defence Headquarters; Rear Admiral E. Ijioma, formerly Commandant, Nigerian Navy Engineering College, Sapele, now Chief of Naval Engineering, Naval Headquarters; Rear Admiral J.B Oladimeji, formerly the Flag Officer Commanding, Naval Training Command, now Chief of Policy and Plans, Naval Headquarters and Rear Admiral J.A Akinwale, formerly Chief of Administration, Naval Headquarters, now Flag Officer Commanding, Naval Training Command.

Others include Rear Admiral B.M. Mshelia, Commander, Central Pay Office, now Chairman of Military Pension Board; Rear Admiral I.E Ibas, formerly Chief Staff Officer, Naval Training Command, now Chief of Administration, Naval Headquarters; Rear Admiral G.E Okoi, formerly Chief Staff Officer, Logistics Command, now Deputy Commandant, Armed Forces Command and Staff College Jaji; Rear Admiral J.O.O Olutoyin, formerly Chief Staff Officer, Western Naval Command, now Chief of Training and Operations, Naval Headquarters and Rear Admiral I.A Oyagha, formerly Chief Staff Officer, Eastern Naval Command, now Flag Officer Commanding Logistics Command.

The eight commodores affected in the redeployments and their new appointments include Commodore O.E Ekwe, Commandant, Nigerian Navy         Engineering College, Sapele; Commodore P.A Agba, Chief Staff Officer, Eastern Naval Command, Calabar; Commodore K.B Ati-John, Chief Staff Officer, Western Naval Command, Lagos; Commodore B.A Egbedina, Chief Staff Officer, Logistics Command, Oghara; and Commodore P.O Oraka, Chief Staff Officer, Naval Training Command, Lagos.

Others are Commodore D.S. Audu, Commander, Central Pay Office, Lagos; Commodore C. Goon, Commanding Officer, Nigerian Navy Finance and Logistics School, Owerrinta and Surgeon Commodore L.M Adams, Commanding Officer and Consultant Surgeon, Nigerian Navy Hospital, Calabar.

Director of Naval Information, Commodore Kabir Aliyu, said in a statement yesterday that "the exercise is as a result of vacancies created by the voluntary retirement of some senior officers who have served the Nigerian Navy meritoriously."

Commodore Aliyu said that the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Marshal Ola Ibrahim, has directed that all handing and taking over formalities of the new redeployments must be completed by the end of this month.
