Let's take a look at the recent flareup in the Israel-Palestine conflict, as told in WaPo leads, all written by the WaPo's woman in Jerusalem, Janine Zacharia.March 23: "Eight Palestinians were killed Tuesday in two separate Israeli military strikes in the Gaza Strip, Palestinian spokesmen said. It's easy and popular to demonize the big banks of Wall Street. In many cases, they deserve it.  But the attempt by retailers, big and small, to cast the current political battle over debit card interchange as a fight between Wall Street and Main Street (with merchants, of course, claiming the Main Street mantle), is grossly inaccurate and misleading.When smaller card issuers -- like the credit unions my association represents -- express their deep concern about the impact of interchange, we are painted by proponents of the new law restricting interchange fees as fronting for the big Wall Street banks that they say are the true targets of the legislation and related rules proposed by the Federal Reserve Board.More...

"Good Morning America" newsreader Juju Chang is moving to "Nightline," ABC announced Tuesday. She will be replaced by ESPN's Josh Elliott.Chang will become a special correspondent and fill-in anchor on the show. She had been the newsreader for "GMA" since December 2009, the last time the show was overhauled.More...

China invested $54.4 billion on clean energy in 2010, $20 billion more than the U.S., according to the latest report from Pew Charitable Trusts and Bloomberg New Energy Finance released today. This is one-fifth of a global market that is growing at a record 30% pace. The competitive position of the U.S. has “deteriorated” so much that it slipped down to number three in private investment, as small-scale solar installations launched Germany into the number two spot. Pew and Bloomberg New Energy Finance’s take-away: policies matter as China and Germany had strong ones and US policies stagnated.The report – Who’s Winning the Clean Energy Race? 2010 edition – is the second annual compilation of clean energy investments (which includes renewables and energy efficiency).
