By Joe Igbokwe           The Lagos State chapter of the Action Congress of Nigeria has rejected alleged moves by INEC to shift the coming National Assembly election in Lagos State and few other states. The party sees this as just one of the desperate moves with which the PDP wants to steal the state and says that the people of Lagos will not accept this ludicrous change, no matter what informed it.

By SaharaReporters, New York           Powerful Nigerians close to President Jonathan are pushing for the removal of the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Attahiru Jega.  They are using last Saturday’s botched parliamentary elections as a convenient peg, and are mobilizing members of the National Assembly to return to Abuja to carry out a speedy trial and removal of Jega from office.

By Moses E. Ochonu           Nuhu Ribadu, presidential candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) likes to claim that he personifies the alternative to President Goodluck Jonathan; that he represents everything that the PDP’s Jonathan is not.    By  Dr. Wumi Akintide.           The whole world is watching and the stakes in the coming elections are pretty high if by any chance Professor Jega in collusion with the PDP and President Jonathan allows himself to be used to decimate the aspirations of Nigeria to freely choose their leaders in the next 4 years. The prognosis for a happy outcome to these elections is not looking good at all, given what we knew yesterday and what we may yet come to know today, tomorrow and day after.

By Jude Egbas           My first reaction to Prof Attahiru Jega’s (he is the Chairman of Nigeria’s electoral body) cancellation of last weekend’s parliamentary polls was to scream in disgust the words: ‘here we go again!’ To say it is excruciating being a Nigerian would be stating the obvious.
